Gentle Yoga

This safe and slower-moving class is designed for students of all ages dealing with physical challenges, recovering from injuries, or for those who enjoy a slower moving practice. Moving gently, we work to increase flexibility in the shoulders, back, hips and legs, to increase arm and overall body strength, and to develop better balance and breath awareness. At the end of each class, we spend some time quieting the mind to reduce anxiety and stress, so that students leave the class relaxed and refreshed.

Kripalu Yoga

Kripalu yoga is a gentle approach to hatha yoga that incorporates classic hatha yoga postures, breath work, mudras and meditation. This tradition of yoga is based on the teachings of Swami Kripalvnanda (1913 to 1981). The word Kripalu is one of the hindu words for compassion. What defines this style of yoga is its inward focus emphasizing compassionate self acceptance, witness consciousness and transferring the experience of yoga from the mat to ones daily life. With a focus on alignment and moving at one’s own pace, Kripalu yoga is adaptable for all ages, fitness levels and for beginning and experienced students of yoga. Students should be able to work on the floor seated and in table pose (hands and knees) and to be able to transition comfortably to a standing practice.

Breathe, Stretch and Restore

This class is slow and deeply nurturing. Gentle stretching with a focus on linking movement with the breath and guided breath work create a sense of calm and relaxation. Students will explore some basic yoga poses and have the opportunity to rest deeply in a restorative pose before savasana. For beginning or experienced students this class will nourish on all levels of mind, body and spirit. The class is suitable for pre natal students.

Therapeutic Yoga Group Classes

These specialized classes will focus on building balanced bodies, gaining stability and movement in joints, and will encourage a better mind/body connection through using the tools of somatic mindfulness. As a result, we hope each student will learn how it feels to move in a body with less pain and with more ease. All levels of students are welcome. No yoga experience required.

Functional Pilates

Functional Pilates moves the participant through traditional and non-traditional (functional) Pilates movements with the goal of increasing mobility, overall strength and a heightened awareness of posture with mindful movement. This is an intermediate level class.

Pilates classes promote strength and balanced muscle development while integrating flexibility and increased range of motion. Attention to your breath, core activation and full body awareness make Pilates a great foundation for any kind of movement that you do.

Our guided Therapy Ball classes create an opportunity for each student to explore self massage techniques using various sized therapy balls. These therapy balls provide targeted self-massage trigger point therapy by using specially designed high grip rubber massage balls and focused movement routines to help penetrate through layers of skin and muscle to massage deeply into your high tension areas.

iRest Yoga Nidra

iRest Yoga Nidra is a 10-step guided meditation.  Students lie comfortably on the floor as the teacher takes them through this deeply restful class.  IRest Yoga Nidra combines ancient yoga precepts and current research to help reduce stress and chronic pain, improve sleep, and in some cases, heal unresolved issues and traumas.  This class is appropriate for anyone, whether you are a lifelong meditator or if you have never tried meditation before.

Reiki ~ Restorative Yoga

In this 2 hour class students can enjoy the time to drop deeper into a longer restorative yoga practice accompanied by healing Reiki energy and the subtle use of aromatherapy. Reiki is a gentle non-invasive hands on healing modality which accepts the idea of a “Universal Life Force Energy” that is around and within all living things. As students rest fully supported in their yoga poses Reiki energy will be incorporated enhancing the deep relaxation and benefits of the restorative yoga practice. Reiki gently balances the energy channels in the body releasing accumulated tension and stress and promoting a state of harmony. Combining these two practices allows for a supported and deeply nourishing gift of self care and healing for all levels of Self.
